Medibank Optical Extras Annual Limits
Not all health funds are equal. However, the optical cover and claims process is pretty standardised across providers.
To understand how much you'll get back on optical items with Medibank, find your health insurance package with optical extras below*. Then, navigate across the row to your corresponding annual limit and benefit percentage:
Medibank Health Insurance Name | Optical Annual Limit | Benefit Percentage |
Healthy Start Extras | $150 | 100% |
Essential Extras | $200 | 75% |
Growing Family Extras | $200 | 75% |
Top Extras | $200 | 60% |
Say, for example, you’re on the Healthy Start Extras package. This means that in a calendar year, Medibank members are eligible to get 100% back on optical-approved products and services, up to $150 per person.
This amount varies depending on your level of health coverage and how recently you’ve claimed. You can check your cover summary either online or on their app.
*Note, the above is based on singles cover in NSW. To find out more about Medibank Health Insurance options, head to their site to find yours.
Waiting Periods
When making your claim, it’s important to consider the waiting period for the approval to go through. For optical services, this is 2 months, but can differ according to your level of health insurance.
