How To Put In Contact Lenses

If you’re considering making the switch from glasses to contacts, figuring out how to put them in can seem daunting. But with a little practice, it’s easy to get the hang of it. In this blog post, we explain how to put in contact lenses, how to take them out, and reveal why contact lenses are better than glasses for many people.

HOW TO PUT IN CONTACT LENSES:

Contact lenses are a safe and effective way to correct your vision, but they do require some care to ensure that they are used safely. Improper handling of contact lenses can lead to serious eye infections. Bacteria can build up on the lenses, which can then be transmitted to the eyes when the lenses are worn.

For that reason, contact lenses should only be handled with clean hands, and they should be inserted and removed using specific techniques. Careless handling of contact lenses can also damage the eyes, causing scratches or other injuries. Here’s precisely how to put in contact lenses safely and effectively:

  1. 1. Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water. This will help to prevent any dirt or bacteria from getting on your lenses.

    2. Carefully remove the lens from its container. Be sure not to touch the lens itself, as this can transfer bacteria to your eye. Instead, hold the lens by the edges.
  1. 3. Place the lens on your index finger or middle finger and align it so that it is ready to be inserted into your eye.
  1. 4. Use your other hand to gently pull back your eyelid. This will help you to insert the lens more easily. Make sure the lens isn’t damaged and that the correct side is facing up. If you’re not sure whether the lens is inside out, hold it up to the light — if it’s shaped like a bowl, it’s good to go. If it’s shaped like a taco, it’s inside out.
  1. Carefully place the lens on your eye and release your eyelid. The lens should sit comfortably on your eye without causing any discomfort. Blinking a few times should clear your vision.
  2.
  3. Repeat these steps for the other eye.

HOW TO REMOVE CONTACT LENSES

Wearing contact lenses is a great way to improve your vision without glasses. However, it’s important to know how to safely remove contact lenses to avoid damaging your eyes. Follow our step-by-step instructions on how to take out contact lenses:

  1. 1. Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water. This is essential for avoiding eye infections.

  2. 2. Gently pull down on your lower eyelid to create a small pocket of air and give your fingers more space to manoeuvre.

    3. Using your index finger, lightly touch the lens and slide it down onto the white part of your eye.

    4. Blink several times to moisten the lens and make it easier to remove.

    5. Using your thumb and index finger, squeeze the lens and release it from your eye.

    6. Repeat these steps for the other eye.

    7. Store your lenses in a clean case filled with fresh solution, or if they are a single-use pair, discard them immediately.

FAQs

Is it easy to wear contact lenses?

Contact lenses have come a long way since they were first introduced in the late 1800s. Today there are many types of safe, comfortable, and easy to wear options that require very little maintenance. For example, daily disposable contact lenses can be thrown away at the end of each day, so there’s no need to clean them. There are also extra soft, flexible, breathable options that can be worn for long periods and removed with ease.

Why are contact lenses better than glasses?

Contact lenses offer a number of advantages over glasses. They don’t fog up in humid or cold weather, and they don’t get in the way when you're playing sports or working out. Contact lenses also give you a wider field of vision than glasses, and they don’t require frequent adjusting or readjusting. Plus, with today’s advancements in materials and manufacturing, contact lenses are more comfortable than ever to wear.
