What is MiYOSMART iQ?
MiYOSMART iQ is the next generation of HOYA's flagship myopia control lens — the most widely-prescribed HOYA myopia control lens in the world. It uses an upgraded Defocus Incorporated Multiple Segments (D.I.M.S.) design, sometimes called the DIMS lens, with hundreds of micro-lenslets that create a controlled defocus signal at the back of the eye, slowing the elongation that causes myopia to worsen.
MiYOSMART iQ is worn like a normal pair of glasses. Children put them on in the morning and take them off at night. There is no medication, no contact lens, no surgery.
Available exclusively at 1001 Optometry in Australia from 1 May 2026, ahead of the global rollout. Stocked at all 16 1001 Optometry stores in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.
How is MiYOSMART iQ different from the original MiYOSMART?
MiYOSMART has been used by hundreds of thousands of children since 2018, with proven results in slowing myopia by approximately 60 percent. Early clinical data on MiYOSMART iQ suggests up to twice the effect of the original lens.
Upgraded D.I.M.S. lenslet pattern delivers a stronger peripheral defocus effect.
Reformulated lens material for better all-day comfort, especially for younger children.
Less visible lenslet pattern. Most parents and teachers cannot see it during normal wear.
Built on the proven D.I.M.S. technology platform used safely worldwide since 2018.
How does MiYOSMART iQ slow myopia?
Children with myopia have eyes that are growing too long, lengthwise. Standard glasses correct vision but do nothing to slow that growth. MiYOSMART iQ adds a ring of small treatment zones around a clear central optical zone. The treatment zones project a 'stop growing' signal to the back of the eye every time your child looks around, while the central zone gives clear distance vision.
Is MiYOSMART iQ right for my child?
MiYOSMART iQ is a strong choice as myopia control glasses for kids who are comfortable in everyday glasses and want a single full-time solution.
MiYOSMART iQ is a great fit for:
- Children aged 4 to 18 with myopia or progressing myopia
- Children who are happy in glasses and want a single, full-time solution
- Children whose lifestyle does not suit overnight contact lenses
- Children with mild to high myopia (works across the prescription range)
- Families looking for a non-pharmaceutical option
Clinical evidence
New clinical trial results from HOYA Vision Care and the The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, presented at Association for Research in Vision and Ophtalmology (ARVO) 2026, are setting a new benchmark in myopia control.
In the first year or wear, MiYOSMART iQ spectacle lenses stopped clinically relevant myopia progression in 9 out of 10 chidlren.
Key highlights:
- Children aged 4-12 years showed no myopia progression on average, with axial elongation below or comparable to non-myopic eyes.
- First-ever evidence of D.I.M.S Technology based myopia control efficacy in children as young as 4 years old.
- In children 7-12 years, MiYOSMART iQ achieved more than 100% average myopia control efficay and a 94% reduction in axial elongation.
These findings represent the highest myopia-control efficay reported to date with D.I.M.S. Technology-based spectacle lenses. Read the full press release to learn more: MiYOSMART iQ
