What is Stellest 2.0?
Stellest 2.0 is EssilorLuxottica's next-generation Essilor Stellest lens for children — a spectacle lens designed to slow the progression of myopia. It uses an upgraded Highly Aspherical Lenslet Target (H.A.L.T.) design, sometimes called the HALT lens, with thousands of microscopic lenslets arranged across the lens surface.
Stellest 2.0 is the second generation of the Stellest family. According to Essilor's clinical data, it delivers approximately double the mean optical power of the original Stellest, with interim studies showing a substantial reduction in axial elongation.
Available now at all 16 1001 Optometry stores in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.
How does Stellest 2.0 work?
Inside Stellest 2.0 are thousands of tiny aspherical lenslets surrounding a clear central optical zone. The lenslets create a 'volume of myopic defocus' in front of the retina, which signals the eye to slow down its lengthwise growth — the underlying cause of progressive myopia.
Your child looks through the clear central zone for sharp distance vision. The treatment zone works passively in the background, every waking hour the lenses are worn.
Stellest 2.0 vs the original Stellest
Upgraded H.A.L.T. lenslet pattern for a stronger peripheral defocus effect.
12-month interim data shows a substantial further reduction in axial elongation versus single-vision lenses.
Lens thickness, weight and aesthetics unchanged from the original Stellest.
Built on the proven Stellest platform used safely by children worldwide.
Is Stellest 2.0 right for my child?
Stellest 2.0 is a strong choice as myopia control glasses for kids who already wear glasses full time, particularly for children with higher or faster-progressing prescriptions.
Stellest 2.0 is a great fit for:
- Children aged 6 to 18 with progressing myopia
- Children who already wear glasses full time
- Children with high or fast-progressing myopia who need a high-power treatment
- Families who prefer a non-medicated, single-pair solution
Clinical evidence
Stellest 2.0 builds on one of the longest-running clinical evidence bases in the myopia control category.
- Original Stellest: Peer-reviewed 4-year follow-up showing mean myopia progression slowed by approximately 67 percent compared with single-vision lenses (Essilor / Wenzhou Medical University data).
- Stellest 2.0: 12-month interim data suggests axial elongation is substantially reduced compared with single-vision lenses.
- Regulatory: TGA-listed and CE-marked.
